Whitby, smarting under the strong attack, surged back for four runs in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately for Whitby, the Del's had scored two runs in the first inning, one league for the fall season of Rugger. The Union officials named the high flying Oshawa Vikings to play in the tough and classy Senior league. This is a big move for the local boys who 0! began Rugger activities in the spring of 1959. The calibre of the Vikings' play in the recent spring exhibition schedule marked them for higher competition. With the annual GM holi- iays booked this year for the first two weeks of August, it became necessary to set playoff dates for July, in-order to have a winner ready by August 15 -- since most tdams can not field a team during the GM holidays. A couple of postponed games in the Kiwanis Bantam League, were cleaned up last night and that concluded the season's schedule. Woodview Park completed a 13- game streak of wins without defeat, to finish in top spot. Bhthe Park gave Sunnyside a scare last night but Sunny- side won 6-5 and that clinched second place for them, just one defeat behind (to) Woodview. Connaught Park and Southmead ended up tied for third place with nine wins apiece and a total of 18 points. Radio Park could hgve finished tied for third if they had won their game last night. The semi-finals will open on Monday night, with either Connaught or Southmead playing at Wood- view und the other playing at Sunnyside, with return games on Wednesday night. Should a third game be necessary to decide either series, it will be played on Friday night, at Woodview and Sunnyside. A toss, to be made this afternoon, will decide which team meets Woodview. All other Kiwanis Bantam teams will be in playotf action on Monday night, since all teams are in- cluded in League playdowns. The draw for the Bantam League playoffs will be in tomorrow's paper, but we do know right now that on Monday night, Rundle will play at Storie; Fernhill at Nipigon; Simcoe Hall at Bathe; Kingside at Eastview and North Oshawa at Radio, with return games on Wednesday night. In the Midget League, competition has proven just as keen as in any season yet. Kingside and Fernhill finished tied for first with Southmead and Storie Park tied for third place. Association president "Joe" Victor announced today that the "draw" made last night, calls for Southmead to open a semi-final series at Kingside on Monday night, with Storie Park visiting Fernhill in the gther bracket. Return games are on Wednesday night, with 3rd games, if necessary, to be played on Friday. The Midget finals, like the Bantam finals, will be played the following week. In addition, in the Midget League, the wwo teams eliminated in the semi-finals next week, will be scheduled for league action in the last week of Julyy along with North Oshawa. Neither Midgets nor Bantam teams will see action during the first two weeks of August, unless by mutual consent.
