Linen cocktail dress with cashmere jacket. Embroidered organdy, with velvet paniers. Brown shantung dress, white hat and bag. Achieving that cool summer look (right). a: BY MARGARET NESS UMMER is upon us once again. It was such a long- coming cold Spring that, I imagine, we had forgotten how hot summer really can be. Last year, you will remember, was a scorcher. Fall seems so far away that we're not even speculating on a probable new fashion silhouette or the new fashion shades. But in July the New York Couture Group, Inc, will hold its Fall-Winter presentation of top collec- tions, viewed by the fashion writers of the States and Canada. This will affect our Canadian trend even more than the later viewings in Paris, London and Italy. So, in this issue, I thought you might be interested in a pot-poutri of present and future indications. SUMMER WARDROBE INSERTS ... If your summer wardrobe was purchased back in January in the cruise-wear season, it probably contains sufficient light sleeveless cottons. But if you bought new additions in the early Spring, during the first of the summer deliveries, you may have completely forgotten the hot asphalt pavements and the treeless streets. Your office or home may not be air-conditioned. Your holiday plans weren't finalized. If this is the case, you may find you ran to jacketed costumes, heavier linens and perhaps, even to jersey. Spring chill was still in your blood. In- coming July, then, is a good time to take advantage of the annual summer sales and add a sheer cotton or two and an extra swim suit to your wardrobe. They are most useful whether you are taking a resort holiday in Muskoka, are a summer cottager, or have fallen for the lower summer rates down in the Carribean.
