EVA ALEXANDER GROUP The Eva Alexander Group of St. Stephen's United Church held its regular meeting recently with 15 members present. The worship service was led by Mrs. Robert Ambrose. The pray- er and topic on "Faith" was led by Mrs. Ambrose. The scripture was read by Mrs. Herbert Van Luven and a reading on "Faith" was read by Mrs. Leonard Craw- ford. Mrs. Charles Rundle presided for the business part of the meet- ing. Mrs, R. Smith gave the treasurer's report, and Mrs. 'L. committee. ALBERT STREET W.A. IODE Party Mr. and Mrs. Cooper opened the meeting with a poem. The Golden Links group had charge of the devotional per- iod. Mrs. James Scott gave a reading on the customs of early Christians, Mrs. Roy Corbman. Mrs. S. C. H. Atkinson, Mrs, Wil- liam Stallibrass, Mrs. Mark Hill and Mrs. Wilbur Down each read a portion of scripture. Mrs. Edward Holland sang "Lead Me Mr, and Mrs. R. F. DOUBLES CLUB The regular meeting of St. Mark's Anglican Church Doubles Club was held in the parish hall on Saturday evening, March 26. The president, Mr. Joseph Coles, extended a welcome to the members and guests. This Len- ten meeting was under the direc- tion of the rector, the Rev. J. N. Lothian who directed the worship service, He presented an inspir- ational film entitled "Christ the King". This film tells the story of our Lord's life and passion, His agony and death on the Cross and Resurrection and As- cension. Miss Deverson was trained at the Cone School of Dancing, Lon- don, England. She taught at the Phyllis James School of Danc- ing, Northampton, for seven years where she was the local organizer for children's examina- tions. During her career she has had experience in many aspects of teaching. From young children to professional students, many of whom now appear in ballet com- panies, musical productions and on television. She has adjudicated festivals and arranged dances for theatrical productions, no- tably at the Birmingham, Eng- land, repertory theatre and the David Garrick Theatre, Lich- field, England. Since 1941 Miss Deverson has taken the Royal Academy of Dancing scholars' classes for the Birmingham area and from 1946 has been a children's examiner.
