Tomorrow's cars will ride better, steer better and offer still greater visibility as the driver becomes more and more the complete master of his car. Meanwhile, research engineers explore such areas as the potential of free piston and gas turbine engines as possible extensions of the present internal combus- tion engines. This research proceeds not necessarily toward the replacement of present motive power, but from within its framework may evolve new and better engines or applications which will improve and en- hance existing types. This research today is a reminder that the evolu- tion of the automobile is a never-ending process.
