10 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Monday, February 15, 1960 Windsor, Dunnies Split Two BY CLIFF GORDON Whitby Dunlops split a pair of weekend games with the hard fighting Windsor Bulldogs. The Dunnies nipped the Bulldogs 3-2 & here on Saturday night in a close hard checking game and then were whalloped by the same Bull- dogs 10-2 in windsor yesterday afternoon. The Dunnies still hold an eight-point lead over the Bull- dogs with six games to play. The Dunnies need at least a pair of wins and a tie to clinch first place that is if the Bulldogs should win all their remaining games. The Dunlops meet the Bulldogs on two occasions before the season ends. Saturday night here . . . . The Dunnies were led in their close 3-2 win by hard working left winger Pete -Babando who scored two goals and set up the other tally. Sandy Air was the trigger man on the other marker. For the losers it was Lou Bendo and Len Speck with single coune ters ! For the Dunnies it was Jack Kane and Pete Babando with one each. The Dunnies are still without Has- sard one of their top centre men. The Bulldogs broke out fast in yesterday's game and took the lead at the .17 mark as Gross picked up a goal on passes from . Speck and Brown. Brown made {it 2-0 just 64 seconds later as the border city team were really hot. Kane cut the lead to a sin- gle goal at the 11.10 mark as he took a pass from McBeth to beat Head in the Windsor goal. The Dogs however came right back and took a two goal lead at the 12.53 mark as Brown got his second of four. In the second period the Bull- |dogs could do nothing wrong. They fired home no less than five goals without a reply from the Whitby team. Walker led the onslaught with two goals, Zorica, Brown and Bendo getting the others. Whitby opened the scoring at the .57 mark of the final frame as Babando got his marker with Kane and Air assisting. But the Dunnies were done as the Wind- sor team came right back and got that one back less than a minute later. Maniago was in goal for this period as he re- placed Head at the end of the second period. Brown added the final marker of the game at the 19.48 mark of the period. ICE CHIPS . . . . .
