Burnett Jamieson, chairman of the board of school trustees noted that the Pickering High school was built in 1951 with an enrol ment of 400. Since that year a new school had been built in Ajax and more rooms added to the Pickering School. Four more rooms were scheduled to be added to the Ajax school and a new school was to be built at Whiteside road to serve the west end of the town- ship. The present enrolment in both schools is 938 students.
