Suceeding her were Mrs. Sidney Sheridan 'and Mis. Angus Neil. The present slate of officers is: Mrs. Angus Niel, president; Mrs. Patrick J. Roberts, president; Mrs. Frank G. Because of this St. Gertrude"s CWL was able to present Father Frank 8S. Mahoney with a cheque for $1500, which represented the proceeds earned from January to June. Some of the activities engaged in by St. Gertrude's include ca- at the Knights of Columbus Hall, a Bridge and Euchre held last February, the elections and membership supper in April, a breakfast in honor of the first graduating class from St, Ger- trude's School in June and the annual carnival held in July. Plans are now underway for the Christmas bazaar to be held in St. Gertrude's Hall om Wednes- day, December 3. Life Fellowship Is Characteristic Helping Hand Aux. The Helping Hand Auxiliary was organized over 40 years ago, when it functioned as a Sunday School Class on Saturdays, as well as meeting once a month at a mid-week evening meeting. Unlike most Sunday School classes. Helping Hand members have stayed together in the same group through the years and a close companionship is a marked characteristic of this group, which is also appreciated by new mem- bers who have joined our auxil- iary. For a number of years now the Auxiliary has stopped meeting on Sunday but keeps up its month- ly meeting. Some of the activities of the Helping Hand Auxiliary are: helping the Sunday -School; buy- ing Crade Roll magazines and papers; visiting shut-ins at Christ- mas and Easter; giving aid to missions ;- - supplying gifts and money for cancer patients. Two years ago, a cision was made to change name of the 'said group to the Eleanor Hoy Group, in honor the late Mrs. E. Hoy who was a faithful worker in church missionary work. . The main project of the group is the annual Turkey Supper, which always proves a great sue- cess and gets bigger and better each year. There are also small- er activities, which include Xmas bazaars and Spring Teas held an- nually, but the big project under- taken last year was in making new Senior and Junior Choir gowns for the church, which was greatly appreciated by the official board. The Eleanor Hoy Group would be pleased to welcome any newcomers to Se city into their group, where they wid find the hand of friendship awaiting them. St. George's WA Meets On Thursday The motto of the Woman's Auxiliary of St. George Memo- rial Church is "The Love of Christ Constraineth Us." The afternoon branch meets on Thurs- day afternoons. The first Thurs- day of each month is for business and devotions, Other Thursdays are for Dorcas work which in- cludes supplying clothes for In- dian children at reservation schools; layettes for Humewood House, Toromto; quilts, clothing and bales for the WA House. The social worker visits the sick and shat-ins and cards and flowers are sent to the sick and bereaved. We raise our funds through members' fees, sales of work, rummage sales, birthday gifts, sale of cards, calendars and sta- tionery. We give our pledges, thank- offering, yearly and other items and a gift to Obuse, Japan. We have 38 members, four life members. We have two prayer partners. One of these is Miss Constance Colpus of Oshawa who recently left as a missionary im Saskatchewan. At the commission service the WA presented Miss Colpus with a donation which she will use for her work. We have several social events during the year and also attend the Oshawa Deanery meeting.
