Devoted Leaders Have Guided King Street WA Since 18%4 The Woman's Association of King St. United Church was or- ganized in 1894 by Mrs. S. J. Clarke, and was known then as the Ladies' Aid Society, with Mrs. Clarke as president. Mrs. Kirby was the first president of the now known Woman's Asso- ciation, followed by Mrs. O. J. Clatworthy with a membership of 40. The next president was Mrs. James Wilson, followed by Mrs. O. D. Friend, Mrs. J. Booth, Mrs. Hales Barker, Mrs. T. Medland, Mrs. Amos Hart- man, Mrs. Frank James, Mrs. Ross Glover, Mrs. Edgar Wil- son, Mr.. Stanley Barie and the] present president, Mrs. Harry | Blakely. During the years of World War II the association was very ac- tive in knitting and sewing ar- ticles for the Armed Forces. During the past year the Cedar Dale Home and School Associa- tion has given a banquet for the pupils of Grade 8, who also re- ceive graduation pins, arranged and served a picnic to all the students at their Field Day in June, a Christmas treat was pro- vided and a Grade 1 Mothers' Tea was held in September. Rib- bons for the Field Day were pro- vided as well as a motion pic- ture screen to be used in the school. Funds for the yearly ac- tivities were raised by a fall bazaar and a candy sale. The present slate of officers in- clude: past president, Mrs. Frank Singer Jr.; president, Mrs. George Thomson; recording sec- retary, Mrs. Harry Blanchard; corresponding secretary, Mrs. William Hrehoruk: treasurer, Mrs. Gordon McQuaid: vice-presi- dent, Mrs. Alyn Elliott. Faithful Group Led By Mrs. J. B. Frost Officers and executive of the Faithful Group of King Street United Church are: president, Mrs. J. B. Short. There are thirty members. We had a rummage sale; spring tea; catered for the men's club dinner and two weddings. The Ardent Group and the Faithful Group catered for the Teachers' Federa- tion banquet in May and October. Evelyn Goodwin Gr. Formerly Jr. WA ' The Evelyn Goodwin Group of Centre Street United Church was organied about 18 years ago by the late Mrs. Herbert Goodwin. The group was first known as the Junior WA. As the WA met in the after- noon, at that time, it was decided that the Jr. WA should meet in the evening to accommodate iadies who were not free during the day. Later on the name of this group was changed to the Evelyn Good- win Group in honor and in mem- ory of the founder. Mrs. Norman Williams was the first president. Since that time the group has continued in its spirit of Christian fellowship and work for our church, holding quiltings, rummage sales, baaars, cater- ing, selling cards. The group meets the first Thursday of each month and would warmly welcome any woman who would like to join our congenial group.
