The teams agreed on a 4-out-o.-7 series, for the right to go into the OASA playdowns as representatives of the local association and the City and District officers are in charge of play- off arrangements such as umpires, etc. Whitby won the draw for the first game of the series, which will be piayed on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, with games alternating, Whitby for the first one, then back to Oshawa for the second, etc. In the event series goes the full seven games, the 7th and deciding game will be played in Oshawa. * Looking over yesterday's baseball action, only two things stand out in particular, mamely the fact that N.Y. Yankees are now only a half-game out of first place in the American League and by the time some of our readers get around to reading this, the Bronx Bombers are apt to be in first place. They won over the Chicago White Sox yesierday, 4-2, in Yankee Stadium. And in the National League, St Louis Cards continue go hold down the top slot, thanks te their victory yesterday. This National League pennant race is a nip-and-tuck affair right now and if this see-saw routine is continued by the various clubs for the next three months, it's going to make the most teresting season and pennant race that National League fans F- ever seen.
