With less than two minutes remaining they yanked goalkeeper Lavi Purola out of the net, and drew within one goal of the worried Dunlops. However, Fred Etcher, forechecked the puck of the opposition's stick, and whipped it to Sandy Air, who scor- ed into an empty net, to sew up the game and the title.
