BLAIR Hockey fever will reach a new peak around these parts within the next week or so as the Woodstock Athletics and the Whitby Dun- lops square off in the All-Ontario *"B" finals. This championship series, that nets the winner the W. A. Hewitt Trophy, will get roll- ing tomorrow night in Woodstock, with the second game back | here in Whitby on Saturday night. Tickets game here went on sale at 1 p.m. today, and are on sale right | now. The Arena has reported a big demand for tickets for this se- ries with Woodstock also having asked for 200 tickets for Satur- day night's game here. Whitby won the toss for the extra game, so the third game of the set will be right back in Whitby, this coming Monday night, There are a number of tickets for tomorrow night's game in Woodstock, available here at the Whitby Arena box-office. Reports are that a goodly number of local fans will make the 2'-heur jaunt up to Woodstock tomorrow night, and we've been asked to pass on the request of many folks for transportation. If you #re driving and have some space available in your car, would you kindly call the Arena, and leave your name and phone number, and the number of passengers you could ac- commodate, We took in Tuesday night's game between Woodstock and Stam- ford, and we were impressed with the scoring prowess of the Wood- stock club, We did not have a chance to appraise the defensive strength of their club, because Stamford rarely testel the Athletics in this me, which Woodstock completely dominated. We did no- tice however, that the Woodstock team did not stress a backcheck- ing game, and whether that was a style they played only against Stamford or not likely remains to be seen. However, we suspected that some of the Whitby forwards might do a lot of scoring them- selves if they were allowed the privileges accorled the Kerrio's. The Woodstock line of Doug. Don Wilson, popular Whithy business man, and one of the Town's more ardent sports boosters, became the winner of the Hall of he the Peter Perry award on Tuesday night, in the initial presentation of the award, Don was a keen sports competitor himself in years gone by, and continued his active interests after his play- ing days were over. We have had occasion to work very closely with him in the past two years, and we have found him ready at all times to give of his time to help produce the very best for the Town of Whitby, His contributions to the Town are many, and they incude the local Boy Scout movement, the Whitby Ro- tary club, the Whitby Community Arena and numerous othérs. He, along with several other prominent Whithy people provided the leadership in getting Whitby a new Arena, and continues to hold down the strenuous job of Arena treasurer. The choice was a popular one with most folks, and most definitely with yours truly. It's a particularly great honor as we see it, to be chosen as Mr. Whitby, when it's remembered it comes from a Town where there are a great many hard workers for the commu- nity.
