WHITBY SPORTS | SPOTLIGHT By WREN A. BLAIR aoe Well its all over! We speak of the Kingston Goodyears-Corn- | wall Colts series that ended last night in the seventh game. The | Goodyears won this one 4-2 before 3,902 Kingston fans to take the | series 4 games to 2 with one game tied. The Colts led 2-1 until the 6.20 mark of the last period, when Ted Toppazzni tied the score, and then Tommy Goodfellow and Don Murray, pumped home in- surance markers late in the period to wrap it up This means that the championship league finals, will open here in Whitby on Sat-| urday night, with tickets going on sale at the Arena Box-Office at | 7.00 tonight. | This series didn't end before it caused a mild uprising here in Whitby, yesterday. Had Cornwall won last night, the se- ries would have ended all tied at 3 wins and a tie each. It had been presumed that had that happened the Goodyears and the Colts would have been ordered to play a sudden death game either on Thursday or Friday night, with the winner still ready to open here on Saturday night, as originally scheduled. How- ever yesterday at noon we received a phone call from Bill Han- ley, Business Manager of the OHA stating that they would likely play a two-game total goal series, with the final series not get- ting going until sometime next week. This would mean that the Dunlops, who have already been! The boiler is now in operation| } cribe Kellog. This, Kellog said, had provoked the assault. Taking the stand for the second time, Brock told the court, "I have many lady bowlers, in the alley, and I have never used that kind of language in the hall. I know all the words, but I do not use them before the bowlers." Summing up, Crown Attorney Alex Hall said, "This man seems to run clean-cut premises, and he appears to intend to keep it that way." Magistrate Ebbs placed Kellog on suspended sentence for a year, adding that he must stay away from Brock Bowl for that period. After several hurried phone calls back | and forth to the OHA oifices, with no satisfaction gained, the Dun- lops sent a telegram to that body, stating that the Whitby club would cease operatons this year, if the OHA did not go ahead with | the opening game here Saturday, as had been scheduled. No fur- ther word was heard from the offices of the OHA on the subject, | but Joe Corky called from Kingston prior to last night's game at- tempting to make arrangements with Whitby to allow a two-game series with Cornwall, if Cornwall had won, and thus open the final round here on Monday or Tuesday night. The Whiby club, reserved any decision on the subject until last night's game was over, and with Kingston now the winners it will probably never be known what the outcome might have been had the series been postponed further. All that is now wat- er over the dam, and the fact that Kingston won, certainly settled a lol of probiems. Over 200 reserved seat tickets were dispatched to Kingston today, for Saturday night's game here, so the place should be jammed for the opener. The Limestone city asked for more tickets but the local authorities said nix. The Dunlops practiced last night, and will work out again to- night in preparation for this tough series. Ray Miron told us after last night that the Goodyears were really rolling, so it shapes up as another typical Kingston-Whitby battle, with the seres likely going six or seven games, before its decided. Mean- while, get down to the Arena tonight, amd secure your tickets for the opener Saturday. The Town and Country , . . Those people whe wondered why the Montreal Junior Canadiens beat the Dunlops last Saturday night here, have had their questions answered.
