Addis Ababa Being Given Face Lifting ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (CP)-- International experts are playing an important part in supervising a face lifting operation which will give this proud capital, standing on a 9,000-foot-high plateau, an en-| tirely new look. Emepror Mvenelik II founded | the capital and named it Addis Ab- baa new flower. One of his suc- cessors, Empegor Haile Selassie, is the inspiration behind the move to beautify the city. A two-year improvement plan is due to be completed in time for the 25th anniversary of Emperor Selassie's Coronation November 3, 1955. The greater part of the plan is the work of Sir Patrick Abercrom- bie, British town planning expert. The work of widening streets so far has necessitated the pulling | down of more than 1,000 small re- sidential and business premises | and a number of larger buildings, | The capital's biggest hotel, to be named the Palace, is under construction. Other prominent bulidings on which work is under way are to house the ministry of justice, the Supreme Imperial Court, the High Court and the lower courts. Work is also due to start soon on the Imperial Palace, a municipal building, the capital' s first univer- sity, a big native hospital and a stadium. ACTRESS DIVORCED SANTA MONICA, Calif. S. Movies Use Wiggle Test NEW YORK (CP) -- Wiggles eak louder than words in expres- a child's opinion of a movie. aor that principle, the children's {lm library of the Motion Picture Association of America applies the "wiggle test" in deciding which picture to select for the ¢ ildren' Ss Saturday matinees at ne ighbor- hood movie houses. Ask a child if he liked the pi ture and he'll probaby say yes, whether he did or not. But the library's observers watch a select- ed juvenile audience for wiggles, indicating restlessness when the film isn't getting across. "For years," said Mrs. Marjorie Granger Dawson, chairman of the library, "adult groups tried by themselves to decide which pic- tures children would enjoy. That just doesn't work. Now we let the boys and girls have the last word. Unaware of what they're there for, they come to a preview and do the final picking." UNMISTAKEABLE REACTIONS Mrs. Dawson had just come from a little movie house on Broadway where 80 public school children, 8 to 13, had raised the froof because they didnt like s picture. As the kids shouted to their heart's content, two adult observ. ers watched and listened carefully, drawing zig-zag lines on charts. The charts list the varying de- grees of interest-active participa- . ton, close attention, interest, pas- sive acceptance, boredom, rest- lessness and open revolt. "No pictures are produced es- pecially for children," Mrs. Daw- son said. 'Children are bored with passionate lovemaking or talky scenes. They like adventure, ac. tion, scenes of lively happening. Movies must move-and fast-for children." MILITARY FUNERAL OTTAWA (CP) -- Full mili: honors were accorded Col. Cy. G. F.
