The con- gregation in the afternoon, due to the unfavourable weather, was somewhat smaller than in the eve- ning. Bouquets of colorful autumn flow- ers, tastefully arranged, fruits and vegetables all gave evidence of a bountiful harvest for which we should be deeply grateful. Rev. Roy Rickard, BA, of Colum-- bus was guest minster at the after- noon service. He chose Psalm 122:1 as a basis for his inspiring mes- sage. "fhe choir under the leadership of Mrs. J. Baker sang three an- thems. At the evening service it was a pleasure to have the Ebene- zer Harmonizers lead in the service of song. Under the capable leader- | ship of Mrs. Glenn Pickell who ac- companied them at the organ they sang three selections which were greatly enjoyed. Our pastor, Rev. F. Reed, con- ducted the evening service and de- livered a challenging sermon which provided much food for thought. Following the service refresh- ments were served to the choir guests who very generously re- sponded to ous Tr for more selections. Veteran mushers in northern | Manitoba are turning to the husky- mobile as a more efficient and cheaper method of transport than the traditional teams of huskies. One pair of trappers whose tarri- rugged terrain will use one of the machines on their traplines the winter. It is a small-track sled, similar to the famed snowmobile. FOOD COSTLY The switch is attributed to the high cost of food for the dogs, which claims too large a slice of the trapper's income. | The men are confident the sleds will operate efficiently on the hard- packed snow but are laying plenty of spare parts and equip- people with kniek-knacks, clothing and furniture (made on a very | small scale) to illustrate her talk. | | The group composed of Mrs. Har- old Gifford, Mrs. Nelson Fice and Mrs. Donald Yellowlees served del- icious refreshments.
