The bureau of statistics reported today that the nation's total popu- lation on June 1 had soared to 14,781,000, an increase of 351,000 over the 14,430,000 recorded on the same date in 1952. The new total also represents a gain of 772,000 over the official population - figure of 14,009,429 re- corded in the ninth decennial cen- sus on June 1, 1951. The estimated figures for June 1 show population gains in all provinces. The increases in New- foundland, Saskatchewan and Al- berta were greater than in the 1951-52 period. | Ontario had the largest popula- |tion increase in the year, 131,000 leona with an increase of 168,- {000 in the previous 12 months. The milk control board chair- man, Judge A. B. Currie, issued an order making the five-day de- livery compulsory and removing the ceiling price ca home-delivery m The unanimous decision 'of the milk board was taken to a cabinet meeting then in progress. It was rushed through as order-in-council and approved by the government.
