The first exhibiticn, held 1ast year, was a revelation to all and sundry who saw the exhibits of some 26 industries. Even some residents of Ajax were unaware of the diversification of manufactured roducts which were be made here, 'and distributed to all parts of the Dominion and in many cases all over the world. SPACE AT PREMIUM In an interview today with wi President of the Association Mr. Jones told The Times-Gazette that the Associa- tion had grown since last year, and that space for the ex-| "hibits would be at a premium. He noted that the Association as a whole received a tremendous inspiration from the success of last year, and that the programme this year would be much improved, the addition of several new indust- would add much to the geneFal of the whole affair. Few, if any, of Ajax industries produce consumer goods which are sold locally. Most of the pro- ducts enter the regular channels of trade and commerce and are distributed world-wide. Some in- dustries are engage. wholly with contracts for the Defence. MANY NEW PRODU Some companies pig overseas have brought to Canada and Ajax an entirely mew product, which on its own merit, has found a ready market. One such industry is Aga Steel Radiator Company. Their product, hot water radiators, produced by an entirely new meth- od, are stamped out of sheet steel, and welded together by a special piece of machine wel ding. the only such machine. in 'North Am- erica. This product has gained much favour and is finding a ready-market. Cweco Industries, Ltd., specialize in acoustic tile,, their roduct may be seen all over Canada, in offices, factories and auditoriums where acoustical control or noise elimina- tion is required. The owner of the home returned home later to find a similar condi- tion in his oom and a $20 bill thieves had not taken anything else from the house but cash. It was learned the house had been unoccupied all day and the doors unlocked. The Ajax police are continuing their investigation. I hesitate to speak in too many superlatives but this must be one of the finest encyclo- paedias in the English language, if not in the world. Its editorial advisors are the faculties of the Unversity of Chileago, and of a tee of bers of the faculties of Oxford, Cambridge and London universities. The articles are well known for their concise, well written and accurate icles are well known for the information, as well as the excel- lent illustrations and bibliograph- ies. It is kept well up-to-date and our 1953 edition includes articles on. the atomic bomb, the United Nations, social security in Europe, 1 Britain and the Commonwealth, and the United States, and other leading topics for today. We 'also received the Britannica Book of the year 1953, which is a record of events in 1952. This starts with a chronological calen- dar of events and then there is the main body of articles arranged alphabetically and similar in every way to the encyclopaedia itself, thus supplementing it and bringing it up to date within a few months. Here we find obituaries of prom- inent men and women of the world who died in 1952, fashions of 1952, and new words and mean- ings, (have you heard of peepie- creepie, a globalist, the J factor or pyromen?). I can't promise that you will find an answer to every problem here, but why not try to find some? The library has many other re- sources and we are here to help you if we can. If there is any particular book or subject that interests you, why don't you come along and talk to us about it? If we don't know your 'needs we certainly cannot cater to them and we are anxious to serve you to the best of our ability at all es.
