LADIES BIBLE CLASS . The monthly meeting of 'the Ladies' Bible Class was held at the home of Mrs. Luther Bradley on Tuesday, June 16, at 8 p.m. with a good attendance. The theme of the program was 'The Coronation." The meeting opened with the singing of a hymn after which Mrs. Paynter 7884 the scripture lesson and Mrs. L. Bradley led in prayer. The minutes of the last Jecting and Mrs. Taylor were appointed as the visiting committee for the ensuing month. Peggy Graham and Doris Heron were appointed the program committee for the uly meeting and Mrs. R. Batten invited the members to her ome: for that meeting. Letters of thanks and apprecia- tion were read from Mrs. Fl rott kindly consented to teach the f class one Sunday in July Peggy Graham read a Britain's Kings which very briefly summarized the reigns of the kings and queens preceding Queen Elizabeth II. Mrs. Wm. Hopkins read a poem "Her Majesty," after which ghe introduced the guest speaker of the evening, Mrs. M. C. Fisher of Brooklin. Mrs. Fisher gave a most inter- esting and inspirational message on The Cornation drawing a com parison between the 'Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and the King of Kings. She also spoke of the significance of the 5 kinds of jewels used in the Queens crown. Mrs. Sparks on behalf of the members extended Mrs. Fisher a vote of thanks for her excellent and informative talk. A poem "A Little of Everything" was read by Mrs. Marion aSnd- i-son. The meeting closed with the singing. of God Save the Queen and prayer. Mrs. Edgar Heron extended Mrs. Bradley a vote of thanks for her kind hospitality. The refreshment committee serv- ed a delicious lunch. Dr. A. E. Thompson had charge of the church service at Burns Church on Sunday, June 28, at 7.30 p.m. He spoke on the subject, Growing a Church chosing for his text Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 25, YHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it. During the service the choir sang Rock of Ages. YPU MEETING The YPU held its meeting in the basement of the church on Friday June 26, 8 p.m. Elizabeth Deeming ter which Pe, president took c! The meeting was carried on in the form of a camp meeting. Sev- eral camp-fire songs were sung after which the members all en- joyed a number of games. The members then went by by car to the home of Doris and Kenneth Heron where a wiener roast was held around a campfire. Routley and daughter Helen visited at the 40 | home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lilley of Markham on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Purdy of Toronto and Mrs. L. Graham are holidaying at the home of Miss A. Dowson. Mrs. Gertrude Briggs of Osh- awa is enjoying a week's holiday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Parrott. Congratulations to Joy Bradley on passing with honours her Grade IV Conservatory of music examina- tion and to Carol Lynde for pas- sing her Grade III examinations. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harper, Ruth and Carol of Richmond Hill visit- ed with friends in the village on Sunday. SEEK CAR THIEVES TORONTO (CP)--Police through- out Ontario Monday night were asked to be on the lookout for two men who stole a car at gunpoint at Blind River during the day. Authorities here said they believe the mepf are wanted by the FBI on charges of murder. Descriptions of the men and the car have been broadcast. MOUNT CARMEL ° Pupils Present Gift to Teachers MRS. WALTER SLUTE Correspondent™ MOUNT CARMEL--On Thurs- day, June 25, the teachers, pupils and mothers of our school joined with the teacher, pupils and moth- ers of McKenzie School to enjoy a picnic at Geneva Park. The afternoon was spent in races and games which the children en- joyed very much. A bountiful pic- nic supper was spread and enjoyed by all. When all was seated at the table a presentation wqs made to Miss Sanderson, teacher of Mount Car- mel School by her pupils. Viola Strutt read the address.
