PERCY Correspondent MYRTLE STATION -- Our com- munity was greatly shocked on Friday evening to hear of the sud- den death of Alfred Lyle who has been a resident of our district and surrounding country all his life. Mr, Lyle was hit o front of his home while a car in returning aliz- [from a 'visit with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Pollard. His wife, the former Frella Cas- tello, survives as well as two broth- ers, George and Norman, and one sister, Mrs, Henry Doubt of Osh- awa. The deceased belonged to Myrtle United Church. His funeral was held from Mc- Dermott funeral home Port Perry, interment being in Pine Grove cemetery. Many and beautiful were his floral tributes, His pallbearers were Albert Eyers, Oscar Downey, Elwood Masters, David Duchemin, Bert Dennison, and Russell Taylor. 8. G. Saywell preached a very comforting service. Our sympathy goes out to Mrs. Lyle and the family in this their hour of sorrow. Rev. Mr. Reed of Toronto told the story of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth and in doing so told of the religious side of the service. He read from I Peter 2, 13-17 for his scripture reading. Service will be held in Myrtle United Church on Sunday, June 7, at 11.15 a.m. when Rev. Mr. Reed will be the officiating minister. A June 14 annivers service will be held when Rev. W: A. Hun- nisett of the Fred Victor Mission, Toronto, will be our guest speaker. Mrs. B. Dennison spent a few days in Toronto with her daughter and son-in-law. Sorry to report that Mrs. A. B. Deeming is in Oshawa Hospital. We hope for a speedy recovery.
