10 THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE, Wednesday, January 21, 1953 WOODS IN STAR ROLE "a= Ea : VERYTHING FROM S0UP ICE LUA) Oshawa Generals are still rolling along and last night they posted a brilliant 4-3 victory over the Galt Black Hawks on Galt ice. The win tightened Oshawa's gripion 6th place in the OHA race as Windsor Spit- fires lost at home to St. Mike's 3-1 while Barrie Flyers downed the K-W Greenshirts 6-5 in another thriller, on Kitchener ice. Down in Moritreal, the Teepees scored a 3-0 shutout over the Royals and that win put the Teepees up in 4th place, ahead of the Black Hawks. There are two GALT (CP) = Four goals in the first period, in which they showed more zip, were enough to give Oshawa Generals a one-goal vic- tory over the Hawks 4-3. Then Fred Etcher scored late in the period with Attersley and Harry Sinden helping out and just before the period ended, Jerry Casey scored on a pass from ' Jack Armstrong. That gave the Generals a 4-0 lead in the first period and from there on, it was a Wing-dong thriller with the homesters making a brilliant comeback. Jim McBurney, leading scorer of the Junior "A" loop, scored twice in the second period, unassisted and then he got an assist on Frank Bonello's goal in the third period. This one came early in the final frame and after that, it was bedlam. Ken Woods turned in a super-terrific game in the nets for Oshawa Generals, throughout the entire game, but especially in the third period, when penalties gave the Black Hawks an advantage in man-power., Woods' brilliant puck-stopping saved the game for the Generals, but the entire team shared in the glory too.
