In 1939, during the visit to Can- ada of the King and Queen, Miss Corriveau, a native of Penetang, Ont., was nurse in charge of the Dionne quintuplets when they were presented to Their Majesties. At that time the queen expressed the hope that some day Miss Cor- riveau would have the pleasure of meeting her daughter. Miss Corriveau, now a lieutenant nurse in the Canadian Navy, will get a chance to see at least one of the Princesses later this week. She has been assigned as nurse aboard the cruiser Ontario, which will take Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh from Char- lottetown to Svdney and then to St. John's, Nfld. The message was sent on behalf of 1200 Indians, 1000 halfbreeds and 800 whites in the community of Fort Vermilion, Alta., 600 miles north of Edmonton. Dr. Kratz and her husband, Dr. Julius Kratz, ar- rived at Fort Vermilion in 1949 to take over the medical care of the community. Fort Vermillion, subject to se- vere winters, 'had had no doctor before the Kratz couple arrived after years of wandering as poli- tical refugees. Julius and Hanna graduated in 1932 from a school of medicine at Frankfurt, Germany.Hanna, an anti-Nazi, fled to England when Hitler came to power and Julius fled to escape concentration camp. They were married in London and then went to Palestine. For 14 years they practised to- gether in Jerusalem, where their two children were born. Then the war between the Jews and Arabs forced them out. They reached Canada in 1948 and worked for a year in Quebec as internes.
