OKE Correspondent Courtice-Ebenezer -- The Even- ing Auxiliary held their October . meeting at the home of Mrs. Harry Gay with an attendance of 22. The president opened the meeting with 8 hymn after which the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. Mrs. Erie Courtice had charge of the de- votional which was closed with a hymn. The following program was given: Reading, Mrs. Gordon Chartran; plano solo, Mrs. Wilfred Brown; reading, Mrs. Lloyd Courtice; solo, Mrs, Harold Muir. The second chap- ter of the Study Book was given by Mrs. Alex. Muir, "From Lakes to Northern Lights." Poem, "What's a Boy; and What's a Girl," on the record player. Program closed with a hymn. A sale of home made cooking was then held, after which refreshments were served and a social time was enjoyed. The Courtice Woman's Associa- tion are planning their turkey sup- per for Nov. 7. So just watch for particulars later. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Balson were Thanksgiving guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Balson, Whitby, also Mr. Floyd Price. Mr. and Mrs. Syd. Goodal and Miss Joan, Oshawa, were Sunday dinner guests with Douglas and Mrs. Oke. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dunn were weekend visitors with their daugh- ter, Mrs. Don, Morden and Don. at Wellington, Messrs. Norman Griffin, Harry Worden, Alan Wilbur, Blake and Douglas Oke and Jesse Arnott, Max- wells, enjoyed attending the big owing match on Wednesday, ich was held at Woodstock. BROWN Correspondent Brougham--The Brougham Wém- en's Institute held their October meeting on the afterncon of the 9th with Mrs. L. Johnston, Presi- dent, in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read, also the resolutions, read by Mrs. N. Burton and voted on by- the mem- bers. The Short Course, was very interesting, but few members were out, to take advantage of Miss Found's good advice. Mrs. Johnston asked that each member volunteer to be a convener, for a Tuesday evening euchre. Mrs. Wm. Gray gave a report on the trip to Sky Loft and New Market, to find the interesfing working points of the Health Unit, there were thirteen ladies attended, de- legates from Institutes, with Miss Mcorhead of the Health Unit in Toronto and Dr. King of New Mark- et who spoke to the meeting. The District President, Mrs. Bir- rett addressed her 'home institute and during her talk gave the iadies quite a few nice tips on how to make the meetings more interest- ing for members, officers and guest speakers, also said, each member should feel it her duty to bring new members into the Institute, also adults should observe safety rules, so the children will learn by our actions, the safety rules, she finish- ed her address by reading a poem, "Life's. Philosophy". Mrs. Glenn's Current Events, proclaimed October as a very eventful month, Mrs. Dr, Marshall, President of the National Council of Women being sent to the United Nations as a delegate, and the visit to Canada by Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edin- burgh.
