De Basil, is to be reborn short- ly in Britain under the direction' of Gerge Kirsta. Kirsta was De Basil's artistic di- rector. Shortly before his death in France last July, De Basil wrote him in a letter: "I feel confident because I have now found in you a worthy suc- cessor who will doubtless continue my work, should I vanish, and who will guide the Ballet Russe in the future." > Principal dancers of the new Bal- let Russe will be Vladimir Dokou- dovsky, Nina Stroganova, Inge Sand, and Kiril Vassilkovsky. Somia Arova will be guest artist for the opening week and will later rejoin, the company as one of the resident prima ballerinas. The company, numbering 78, in- cluding the orchestra, will be seen in its origial and traditional splen- s Oct. 1 at Wimbledon, dor. It op a London suburb, then goes on a week tour of the major cities of England and Scotdand. The repertoire includes such famous ballets as "Aurora's Wed- ding," 'Paganini,' "Carnaval," "Coq d'Or," and 'Prince Igor." Later new ballets will be planned One link with the original Bal- let Russe is Serge Grigoriev, who was regisseur-general for Diaghi- lev and De Basil and is remaining with the new company. Grigoriev, who for half a century has lived and worked for the bal- let, is said to have memorized all the choreographies of all the crea- tors from 1911 onwards.
