Little Gary Ross is staying with his grand- parents for some holidays. | Girls Entertain Their Mothers MRS, D. HOPE ; Correspondent Scugog Island -- The messages from the choir and the Rev. R. D. MacKinnon were very inspiring on Sunday. The Junior Girls entertained their mothers and friends at their meeting in the basement of Grace United Church on Friday after- noon. Miss Jean Samells had charge of the program, Yygnne Miller called the roll which was answered by a reason of liking the Club and its work, Sondra James gave a couple of humorous readings, Jean Samels, Sondra James and Lillian Collins gave a very interesting skit on cutting bias binding which was very help- ful to all of us. Mrs. Boundy gave a few pleasing remarks. Then Miss Shaver and her assis- tant, Miss Rose, took over to demonstrate canning tomatges which we will want to know about «(in the near future. We were then all invited to view the work of the girls for the past year and admired it' all. WALTER SLUTE Correspondent y Mount Carmel -- While driving his Chevrolet pane] truck last night, west on the ninth concession, just west of his home here, Mr. Wood- cock had the misfortune to strike the fresh gravel. This threw him into the north ditch, upset the truck and broke off a hydro pole. Mr. Woodcock was taken to the Oshawa Hospital, but was allowed to return home later, when it was discovered his injuries were not serious. He is suffering from cuts about his face and legs and a bruised back, and will be confined to his bed for a few days. The truck is a total loss. The hydro men were called to remove the hydro wires before the truck could be towed away. All wish Mr. Wood-~ cock a speedy recovery. On Wednesday, July 11, Raglan and Mount Carmel ladies' Willing. Workers Club met at the home of Mrs, W. Page at Sonya. There were 14 ladies present. After the pusiness was completed, several contests were enjoyed, The prizes went to Mrs. Finn, Mrs, J. Solomon, Mrs. Page, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs, J. Oroniston. The lucky plate prize went to Mrs. Brent. A delic- ious lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs, A.
