WALTER RAHM Correspondent Tyrone On Friday evening, June 1, the Tyrone Community Hall was crowded with people who came te enjoy the Music Festival put on by over ore hundred boys and girls from the various schools under the direction of Mrs. Marion Parsons, music supervisor. The schools, with- out rehearsal together, combined their talents to provide a varied program which was in reality a demonstration of work taken during the year. The program opened with the Na- tional Anthem, after which the Fes- tival Choir which was composed of the senior pupils of all the schools sang three numbers -- "Land Of Our Birth," and "Hymn of Praise," in unison, and "The Bird's Ball," in two parts with Margot Rankine and Ray Ashton of Haydon taking solo parts. Three Tyrone girls, Joan and Kay Davey and Betty Phillips gave a warm welcome to the audience in the song "Company's Come." The junior choir gave two selections -- "Grandma and Grandpa," and "Toyland," during the second num- ber the junior pupils of Long Sault and Enfield imitated the toys in the way of dolls, tops and trains mentioned in the song. Little Mar- garet Theissburger, dressed as, a milkmaid with sunbonnet, milk pail and stool and Dianne Burgess dress- ed as an old country gentleman with top hat and cane sang the duet "Where Are You Going," with actions as part of Long Sault's con- tribution to the program. Under the heading of "A Little Bit of Everything in Rhythm," the various schools showed how the rhythmic sense is developed.
