And a fine"idea it is too; a breakfast lunch served at eleven q'clock in the morning can be the most successful of parties. But what to serve? It must be kept simple, easy to prepare, and appealing to all tastes. The perfect answer is Broiled Cling Peach Hal- ves topped with Creamed Honey. Besides giving the impression of be- ing "something special", these 'broiled - peaches are a warm food that welcomes the sweet touch of honey. Oreamed honey lends a party air to the dish. It is a finely crystalline honey of creamy consistency, and can be used in so many ways as a delightful topping. Any grocer can supply you with it. Complete your brunch by serving hot biscuits and honey butter, steaming coffee or tea and link sausages and bacon, To make honey butter whip equal parts of honey and butter together. While biscuits are hot slip a teaspoon of this be- tween halves and serve. With this simple yet tempting menu, you'll find that once a brunch hostess, al- ways a brunch hostess! 1 1b. link sausages 8 canned cling peach halves 6 teas) Rng creamed honey 3% 1b. BEAUTY FOR YOU:- Highlighting the Complexion The purpose of make-up is to take the place of nature's coloring that has disappeared. During the teen-age. period cheeks are usually pink and rosy. When the pretty blushes do a vanishing act, that's just too bad. Cosmetic chemists, rushing to the aid of the sisters, have: supplied them with compacts and lipsticks, thereby boosting mor- ale, Before make-up became respect- able the girl who wasn't born good- looking hadn't a chance of making improvements in her appearance. It is true that the privilege of fa- cial decoration has been abused by those who never seem to know when to stop using a good thing. Cheeks bearing blobs like bright, Lips too henvily LTP . There are always those eo go to extremes. But they're learning. Synthetic aids are be- ing used more deftly e "ory year. Make-up artists find that the manner in which rouge is used will do much to emphasize good fea- tures, tone down those not so good. Tf the face is broad, the illusion of less breadth is created by bringing the heaviest path of rouge near the nose, letting it do a fade-away toward the ears. If the jaw bones are prominent, §#t is important that the coloring be placed high on the cheeks and allowed to pass over on the tem- les. On the thin face with hol- cheeks, start rouging at the far sides, barely touching the centre of the cheeks, since the rosy pigment forms a shadow. .A touch of color on the chin will make a long, thin face appear to be of more natural contour. With & short, plump face, a lighter tone of powder on the chin is recom- mended. On the oval or heart-shaped face, #t is advisable to form a crescent JAMBSOR Advises You By HERMAN M. BUNDESEN, M.D. STROKES WHAT is technichally known as an aneurysm: occurs when the wall of a blood vessel weakens and protudes to form an out- pouching.- It- is not uncommon for these aneurysm to form in the blood vessels of the brain where they may rupture under strain. This accounts for many deaths from stroke in younger individu- als. If, however, early 'diagnosis is made, it is possible to save many of them, PAIN IN BACK The patient usually complains of a severe pain in the back of his head after some straining 'active ity, such as moving the 'bowels, or sports activity. He then develops a severe stiff neck together with the headache." A diagnosis can be definitely made by taking a sam- ple of the spinal fluid from per- sons having such symptons, examining it for blood. In the case of cerebal aneursym, bldod is found in the spinal flluid. The treatment for this condition consists of absolute bed rest for from 10 to 12 days, so that the bleeding process may be quieted down. Activity must be complete ly restricted. Vitamin K is often given to promote clotting of the blood at the site of the bleeding. Then an attempt is made to de- termine the site. This is done by injecting a dye into a vessel in the neck supplying the brain ar- teries.. X-rays aré then taken of the head. These X-rays follow the course of the dye through the blood veseels of the brain, They thus determine where the aneu- rysm or outpouching of the blood vessel] is located. BRAIN SURGEON When the site of the bleeding has been determined, a brain sur- geon can usually operate on the patient and either tie off the vessels in the neck supplying the bleeding part or the part of the vessel where the aneurysm is lo- cated. Occasionally, some paralysis may result after this operation. To be of help to the individual with an aneurysm, it is important to make an early diagnosis of the condition, This condition may occur at any age, but is most frequent between the ages of 15 and 45 years. Strokes usually do not occur in individuals in this age group except from cere- bral aneurysm, QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS I. B. C.: What is the cause of snoring and what can be done to prevent it? Answer: Snoring usually comes from the fact that while asleep the mouth drops open, allowing the palate to drop. When the air is blown in and out, vibration of this part occurs. Sometimes, fastening the mouth closed with a strip of adhesive tape will bring results. Obstructions in the nose are sometimes found to be the cause. An examination by a nose and throat specialist may be of some help. In some instances, there is nothing that can be done. Want to buy, sell or trade -- A classified ad and the deal is made. There are always some who must go to extremes, * oo 9 eye. If a cream rouge is used, it should be put on in dots, blended together carefully and touched lightly afterward with the powder pad. Make-up artists say that; the trouble with many women is that they work the rouge in circles, in- stead of using what they call "paths of color." Another little point is to touch up the lobes and rims of the ears. When the natural blush comes into action the chin and ears usually redden slightly, and imitat- jg nature is now the make-up W. Make Your Vacuum Cleaner Work 'By Using Attachments for Odd Jobs How often do you take your va- . euum cleaner out, do a quick and thorough rug cleaning job and then put it away--leaving the kit of cleaning tools right where it was in the closet? Yet the modern cleaning tools are worth their weight in gold | when it comes to taking the head- | ache--and the backache out of cleaning. The cleaning tool habit is a good one to have. For instead of scattering dirt from one place to another as even the best hand dusting does, your cleaning tools remove the dust completely from the room. Cleaning tools are standard pment now on most cleaners, whether cylinders or uprights. Gen- erally, the kits contain a long flexible hose and metal extension tubes, and various brushes and suc- tion tools. Most kits include a floor brush, an upholstery suction brush, a soft round dusting brush and a long thin crevice tool for applying suction to the cracks and crevices which are so hard to get at by any other means. Cylinder cleaners also have a rug DRAPERY SERVICE Made-to-Measure Drapes and Curtains DIAL 5-5103 cleaning tool, since, of course, your upright vacuum cleaner carries its rug cleaning mechanism right along in the nozzle of the cleaner. Many cleaners also have a moth- imizer or similar container for evaporating moth crystals. Some- Himes they have a paint sprayer, If you have an upright, agitator type of vacuum cleaner, so prized for its super-effectiveness in clean- ing rugs and carpets, you can at tach the cleaning tools by 'a con- necting tube with one simple mo- tion, In fact, it takes less than five seconds. On the market now, too, is a new small-sized upright clean- er of this same agitator type; a short round connecting tool in the front of the cleaner attaches your cleaning tools in a jiffy. This cleaner comes with a smaller tool kit than the larger cleaners, to match its small size. You can get extra brushes, however, if you like. If you have the cylinder type of cleaner, the tools are an essential part of the cleaner, as you know. Whatever type of cleaner you have, when the flexible hose and one or both extension tubes are connected to the brush or suction tool, you can clean floors without stooping, or walls and up over win- dows and doors without having to climb on a step stool or. even stretch. Or you can clean furniture or lamp shades and do a hundred other dusting tasks, with the clean- ing tool attached directly to the hose--and no dust whatever is scattered or overlooked in the pro- cess, Cool Flattery See what a difference these slenderizing lines make! Since the throat area is apt to show signs of age early, cream it daily. +» YOUTH-PRESERVING efforts should begin at thirty, an ominous milestone: in the good looks cam- paign of every woman. The thirties among us are still referred to as "girls," But that should not make them too confident. Ten years can make a lot of difference if one does not have strict regard for the laws of health, continue the little tasks that are necessary to keep the com- plexion blooming, hair and scalp normal, hands white and smooth. It is true that age-arresting work can be done on the figure that has developed beyond graceful lines, on facial tissues that have softened, on what is known as the "settled look."
