Affairs Minister information to support any conclusion of that kind" the minister told the com- mittee during a review of the world's trouble spots. It was possible the rumors arose because of the success of the Unit ed Nations forces in resisting the current Communist drive in Korea. At the moment the efforts of United Nations diplomacy to end the Korean conflict by negotiation was submerged by the efforts to end it by military force. But that, Mr. Pearson said, did not mean there was any lessening of the desire to end the conflict by negotiation, That desire was al- ways present. "We've been talking about our- selves for the last 11 years" said Senator Donald MacLennan. "I should think the international sit- uation and a $5,000,000,000 defence | program would be sufficient to oc- cupy the Senate but it has become a tradition perhaps to talk about ourselves every year." { He spoke in the reform debate | which has been occupying the | Senate since, February.
