4 E. Branton 166 THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE PAGE NINE UAW-CIO MOTOR CITY LEAGUE Jubilee Pavilion Wins Major Title In a five-game series on Saturday afternoon, the Jubilee Pavilion club came through nicely to cop the Major group championship with over 100 pins to spare. The Jubilee boys got away to a good start with a 1320 team score for their first game and from then on, they were never in too much dangeh until the fourth game. ®Rotish Men's Wear had a lead of 103 pins over Jubilee Pavilion going into the fourth game but the Jubilee boys pulled a 1423 score out of the bag at the right time while Rotish fell short with a total of 1185. Ward's Billiards and Ripley's Smoke Shop both failed to hit their best form and were never much of a threat to Jubilee Pavilion. Final Scores JUBILEE PAVILION 1st 2nd 3rd 325 230 226 33 159 176 F. Just one more week and then the play-offs, and with only one point between the Cuberts and Mills to win the third section. The Hillsides, Tresanes and Cu- berts each took four points, leaving | the Valencigs, Hibbards and Parks on the short end of the stick, The Oxfords were a little more sociable by letting the Burtons have one point, while the Mills and Colleges were quite agreeable to split points with 2 each. | Bert Suddard, one of our new! bowlers, rolled a nice triple of 700. Sorry, we omitted Jacn Lambert's score last week which. was 260. Mrs. Saunders is coming right along, roll- ing 199 to beat her captain. Ladies over 200: D. Durno 270; M. King 217; I. Tresanes Cuberts Mills Oxfords Hillsides FORESTERS Hail the new champions of the Couper Bowling Tournament which was bowled for in Whitby County Bowl on Tuesday evening, April 3. Pickering Foresters came up with a decisive win to take the trophy held by Oshawa for the past three years. Congratulations to this team from the rest of the Courts. H. Cookson was high bowler on this team and had a very fine triple of 721 with a 355 single thrown in to really down Oshawa who were next | in line. Rita Ranson was right in| there pitching to the tune of 660; 0. Collins had 632, W, Powers had a | single of 259 and June Bryant had a little tough luck in her last game or she would have been well over the 600 mark, too. June had 256 230. Bill Bryant was the other bowl- | er on this team but he just couldn't seem to get going. Total pins 3184, For Oshawa, Doug Trivett was the best with 652, Toots Ferguson next with 607, Helen Henderson 248 single, Wes Richards 225, Jim Hur- vid 207 and Molly Hartshorn 202 Total pins 3069. Court Alpha, West Hill, were next on the list and we thik, really had the most fun of all. Nothing seemed to bother them in the least. They are the new entrants in the league and congratulations go to them for their fine showing. D. Barefoot was really going to town and had the high triple of the night when he obwled 780 (313). I. Thacker had two nice games of 222, 214, B. Smith 219, and P. Forrester 217, Total pins 2991. Whitby was next with Ella Mec- Rae taking the ladies' high for the night with 714, Kay Karanduch 225, Gordon White 225, Howard Law 219. Total pins 2962. Bowmanville were last but not least when Farewell Blackburn bowled a fine 726 and John Kitsen 617. . Total pins 2741. See you all next year at Ajax, West Hill's stamping grounds. CAN. ORDER OF FORESTERS Well, it's all over for another year and the Allsorts under the captaincy of Dolg Trivett, were the winners and our heartiest congratu- lations are extended to this team. They were the most consistent bowl. ers in the two nights of the playoffs with only a difference of 13 pins be- tween thé two games. The tension was terrific with Doug pacing the floor and Jack Randall running up and down the stairs and chewing through a paper bag right into the toe of his bowling shoes, but the most of the credit for this team's win goes to Al Teno when he bowl- ed 652 with a fine 319 single for his first game of the season over the 600 mark. It just shows what you can do when the chips are down. The Flying Saucers didn't give them much to brag about tho' when they were only 20 pins down on the Allsorts and as Norm says "that must have been that last Head Pin he picked, that did it." None of the ladies reached the 600 mark but six did get in the 200's. Helen Henderson 227; Toots Fergu- son 224; Marie Manning 226; Joan Dalby 217; Joan. Wall 209, and Mol- ly Hartshorn 213. Bob Batten was high man for the night and he bowled 698, Bob Fergu- son was next with 687; Arn Greene 679; Jim Hurvid 656; Al Teno 652 (319) ; Doug Trivett 638; Bud Ander- son 632; Wes Richards 630; Norm O'Reilly 618; Don Chapman 616; Jack Randall 614, and Bill Fish 604, Ted Twining 267; George Scott 249, 220; Bob Young 242, 203; Fred Smith 238; Wilf Manning 218; Gord Crawford 218; Cec Lockwood 216; Len Wall 216, 212; Earl Lockwood | 216, 204; George Norton 206; Sandy | Stark 205; Charles Ferguson 202 and | Ed Henderson 202, | That ends it for this year except | the banquet which is called for 6:30 | at Bayview, Friday the 13th.
