i 3 i u i SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 1951 THE DAILY TIMES. GAZETTE PAGE ELEVEN Tomorrow: 'Marks Opening of New Pentecostal Tabernacle! To Be Dedicated on Sunday p Many Special. Events Planned To Mark Church Dedication The dedication service of , the College Hill Pentecostal " Tabernacle on Sunday after- noon will mark another valu- able addition to the religious life of this city. It will mean the fruition of the efforts of five years. Another branch of this denomination, the Pente- costal Church on Simcoe Street, is also .nder the gen-' eral direction of the Pente- costal Assemblies of Canada. \ Physically, the dedication of ' this building, which is only part of a projected construc- tion program on this lot will mark the addition of a much needed church to this fast- growing neighborhood. Founding of the congrega- tion began five years ago when Frank Danzey, father of the present pastor of the church, E. F. Danzey, began holding Sunday School class- es in his home on Montrave Avenue, During this time the present pastor was attending Eastern Pentecostal Bible Col- lege in Toronto. Graduating in 1948 the son came to Oshawa, and with the help of some of the older peo- bs | ple who were interested, be- + gan the work of founding the congregation. Meanwhile, Mr. Danzey senicr, had moved to Toronto. Sunday services, morning and evening along with Sunday School classes were continued in the Mon- trave Avenue residence which, béfore long, became too small to vis. otto aecomimodats the growing numbers of worshippers. In the spring of last year it was decided to build. A Building Committee, consist- ing of G. V. Cheesman, Nor- man Vaters, William Gray and George Cheesman, work- ed along with Mr. Danzey. All of the work on the brick and stone building which now stands on the 126 foot by 96 foot lot was done by the mem- bers of the congregation. The present building, which holds 150 people, will, it is hoped, be used for a Sun- day School auditorium when it is possible to build :. prop- er church or the lot. When the building which now stands on the property is completed, it will have a Perma-stone front and be bricked on the sides.
