PAGE FOURTEEN New Organ Was Dedicated At Hampton Church M. HORN Correspondent Hampton, Jan. 15 -- Mrs. M. Phase a and Miss Louise Good- man have feturned from a pleas- ant visit with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Parker, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs, Hilton Peters and son, Ralph, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peters, Toronto, visited her parents,' Mr. and Mrs. T. Salter, and brother, Harold, ang wife on Sunday, and attended the evening church service 'when the' beautiful new organ, recently installed, was dedicated. Ralph was at the con- sole for the worship service and at the close of the service gave a half-hour organ recital which was a rare treat and delight to the large number who remained to lis- ten, and his playing of a variety of selections revealed the lovely quality of tone in this fine new and improved Minshall organ. Rev. G. Empey conducted the service and gave a fitting message, making reference to the value of good music and its place in the worship service, He also present- ed many other fine thoughts per- taining to the church. The choir rendered an appropriate anthem selection, "Praise Ye, the Father," and Mrs. Jim Smales sang effec- tively the "Lord's Prayer" by Melotte. A number of friends from outside points attended the dedication service. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Horn have returned from a visit with their son, Dr. W. R. Horn, and Mrs, Horn, and granddaughter, Pat- ricia, of Montreal. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jeffrey, Toronto, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. C. E. Jeffrey. Mrs. Will Wilbur is with her sis- ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Burnett, Orono. Mr. Bur- nett is somewhat indisposed. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brent, Gloria and David, Tyrone, visited Mrs. Brent's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Sykes, and attended evening church service here. Miss Bertha Armour, Oshawa, visited. her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Armour, on Sunday. Misses Yvonne Williams, Bowmanville, spent Sunday at home. Mr. and Mrs. Haydon, were recent visitors at Theron Mounjoy's. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Clarke, Greenwood, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. Clarke's sister, Mrs. Lewis Cryderman, and Mr. Cryderman. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Shackleton and son, Salem, visited Mrs, Shackleton's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Mark Blackburn. Miss Ileen Balson, Solina, visit- ed her brother, Harold, and Mrs. Balson, ' Mr. and Mrs. Neil Yellowlees and daughters, Tyrone, Mr. and Mrs, Ivan Ellicott, Sandra and Donald, Peterborough, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Yel- lowlees, on Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. A. J. Richards and family, Toronto, were recent vis- itors with Mrs. Richards' sister, Mrs. L. Cryderman, and Mr. Cryderman. Mr, and Mrs. Roy Nichols, Cour- tice, were Sunday visitors at Aus- tin Barron's, and attended the organ dedication church service in the evening. Sympathy of the community is extended: to Mrs, Charlie Shaw and sons, Oshawa, in the sudden passing of Mr. Shaw. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw (nee Edna Carr) were both former residents of Hampton and later have lived at Orono and Bowmanville. A number from Hamp- ton attended the funeral at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowman- ville, on Thursday. Burial was in the Bowmanville cemetery. A story from the Study Book "Going to School" was told by Mrs. Warburton. The Courtice-Maple Grove Young People's meeting was held at Maple Grove with Dorothy Snowden and Ron Brooks in charge of the Wor- ship service, The guest speaker was Miss Vera Siblock, a blind girl from Oshawa. She explained what it was like to be blind, and asked that pity be not given, as they could do as much as any sighted person. She showed us how she did Braille and also showed leather work she had done. She also told how to sew and showed her watch with the Braille numbers on it. After this she play- ed a piano solo. A sing song was en- joyed, followed by a recreation per- fod. Mrs. Bob Barber ana Mrs, George Reynolds are both in the Oshawa Hospital suffering from Virus pneu- monia.
