The Scugog folks enjoyed the opening night of the new Memorial Recreation Centre in Port Perry on Friday night, and those that could not attend heard it broadcast over the radio. Miss Nellie Melnychuk of Win- | nipeg who is visiting her sister, Mrs. Douglas Aldred, visited Mrs. David Hope on Sunday afternoon. The second meeting of the Scu- gog Junior Homemakers was held at the home of Catherine Martyn on Wednesday with nine girls pres- ent. A new name was added to the club membership, Mrs. Ellouise Haggard at Port Perry. The meeting was opened by singing the first verse and chorus of "Leaning on the Everlasting Arm," which was followed by the Lord's Prayer. The roll call was answered by each of the girls stat- ing why her clothes closet was so important to her. Mrs. R. Boundy then took charge of the meeting and discussed their projects. Mrs, Stewart Rodman was ill and all were very sorry to not have her with them for this meeting. Then. Jean Samells and Catherine Mar- tyn demonstrated the making of spiral brass binding.
