BARCLAY WARREN Jacob DeShazar has been the most publicized missionary during the past year, Press and radio have told of this bombardier of General Doolittle's squadron who has gone back to Japan preaching the Gos- pel. After being taken prisoner fol- lowing the first bombing of Japan, Jake spent thirty-four months in solitary confinement, receiving a half-pint of rice soup three times a day. A group of the prisoners received a Bible which was passed from cell to cell. Jake, who had praying parents in Oregon, prayed and found the Christ of the Bible GRACE LUTHERAN 1 REV. N. God took the bitterness and hatred out of his '§ heart. He longed for the day when he could come back to tell these guards and others about Jesus. Now he is back there with his wife and children. Great crowds are hearing | § him preach the Gospel. Other mem- bers of the Doolittle squadron are helping the work in a financial way. Our world-wide need is to know | ¥ the Christ of Christmas. He alone can satisfy the individual heart and | § can quell the warring instincts of | § mankind. We may all say: : "I need Jesus, I need Jesus, I need Jesus ev'ry day; Need Him in the sunshine hour, Need Him when the storm-clouds low"r; Ev'ry day along my way, Yes, I need Jesus." f Pastor R. A.
