< THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1950 THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE 8. - PAGE NINE ~ OF INTEREST TO W WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT:- Return Address on Christmas Mail By MRS. CORNELIUS BEECKMAN - Dear Mrs. Beeckman: - Several months ago I followed your advice about the invitations for our Housewarming -- had "ine formals" made with our name and new address on them, wrote our in- vitations on the inside pages. The invitations were a great success, and I thank you, Now we have another "new address" problem. I've had several packages of stickers printed with our name and new address, and, if you approve, we'd like to use these printed stickers on the back of the envelopes of our Christmas cards, After my husband's long war ser- vice, then trying to re-establish himself after his return, and our at last finding a house we could afford, we're so proud of having a permanent address, that we've de- cided to sent out quite a few Christ mas cards to get in touch with or renew our contacts with many re- latives and friends. In quite a few cases my husband is uncertain about the addresses. So it seemed to me that the stickers would be a good idea. Or would it be more correct to write the name and address, ra- | ther than using the stickers? Margaret D. Use your "nice new" printed stick- ers. Either on the upper leit corn- er of the front of the envelopes or on the back. It's entirely proper to use them, and much more practi- cal than "writing your name and | address. Christmas is a busy season for everyone , . . certainly for Post- office attendants . . and therefore | every sensible short-cut to definite- | ness and clarity is welcome. Every- one to whom you send the cards will be informed of your new ad- dress , . . or, if not located, the Postoffice has the printed informa- tion by which the card-envelopes will be returned to you. (Of course you should use first-class postage!) Buffet Supper May Be Given As Housewarming Dear Mrs. Beeckman: My husband and I recently bought 2 new house, are now practically all settled, and want to give a House- warming. All the housewarmings to which we have been invited, and 'most of those you mention in your column, are given in the late-after- noon, tea-time, But we would like BANISH ALL ODORS | ELECTRICALLY WITH | | { accepted) for this pattern. to give our housewarming during the coming holiday season, and give it as a Saturday or Sunday evening buffet supper, beginning, say, at six o'clock, or perhaps even at five- thirty. Would this be a correct pro- cedure for this kind of party? i Sally L. Yes, entirely correct and a most generous and hospitable plan. The reason why most housewarmings are given in the late-afternoon is that at this hour a very simple party Depend On This! 4570 sizes 3448 Ane Slows You're going to love this dress! Father's Name Possibly To Be Given Again Dear Mrs. Beeckman: Our first child was a daughter. Our second child was a son, whom we named John Peter Doe, junior. baby died when he was eight nths old. Now we are going to have another baby, and if it is a son, my husband would like to have him named John Peter Doe, junior. Would this be proper? Mother-to-be .If you share your husband's wish about this, it would be proper. TODAY'S MANNERS MEMO Good manners are next to good morals in maintaining a good ahd happy household, 1.0.D.E. Holl is making the story of Little Egypt and is having a dickens of a time making it authentic. Little Egypt, for those whose memories don't go back that far, was the dance sensation of the gay nineties. Born 'in Cairo, she was part of a Syrian troupe that ap- peared on the midway at the Coltmbisn Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Little Egypt presented some manoeuvres never seen before in North America. Her hootchy-koot- chy shocked the women and de- lighted the men. Refined Grind "I guess she was the forerunner of the present-day burlesque queen," reported Rhonda Fleming, who is playing Little Egypt apd has done some research on the dancer, "but she did it in an oriental and more refined way. "She didn't moye her feet much, but everything else moved, es- pecially her stomach." The Johnston office has strict rules about such movements, whether they are historical or not. The bump, a forward motion of the hips, is verboten. Miss Fleming has to do it with a sideways move- ment. : Hidden Charms . The grind, which is a clock-like motion of the hips, is also banned. Miss Fleming can make only a semi-circular movement. That Is, from one to six o'clock, rather than the full 12 hours, Little Egypt's costume also couldn't pass the guardians of Hollywood Morals.
