Freer Exports Urged by IFAP Stockholm, June 9 -- (Reuters)-- The International Federation. of Agriculturai Producers, at its final plenary session here Thursday, called for freer exports and imports of farm produce. "One of the great impediments to this is the non-convertibility of currencies," a resolution said. "The main cure is more production so that goods can be paid for in goods." ! Another resolution passed by the federation asked govi ts "to give the United Nations organiza- tion, and particularly its food and agriculture office, sufficient powers and resources for their interna- tional activity." H. H. Hannam of Ottawa, presi- dent of the international federation, said the most important resolution was the appeal for freer imports and exports. "This does not mean we want to return to the laissez faire system which characterized prewar trade," he added. "It is clear, however, that free goods exchanges between coun- tries must be brought about if we are to reach the recovery and con- vertibility of currencies we are all striving for." The conference re-elected Han- nam, who is president of the Can- adian Federation of Agriculture, as president. France's chief delegate, Pierre Martin, was elected vice- president.
