Set A comprehensive sea training : Proztam for citizen-sailors of the yal Canadian Navy (Reserve) will be carried out this summer on both coasts and in,the Great Lakes, Naval Headquarters announced to- day. With at least six ships allocated specifically for training purposes, ar ambitious sctiedule of cruises and exercises has been drawn up for the approximately 2,500 Reserves and Naval Cadets who will train | afloat during the summer months The program starts early in May continues until the end of d ptember. In addition to their training at gea, instruction will be given Re- serves and Cadets in RCN technical schools and training centres at Halifax and Esquimalt. Courses are available in communications, gun- nery, torpedo-anti-submarine, en- gineroom, aircraft maintenance, ordnance, medicine, supply and other subjects. This instruction will enable Re- serve men to qualify for the non- substantive - ratings necessary for advancement in their respective branches. Two frigates on each coast, the Swansea and La Hulloise at Hali- fax, and the Beacon Hill and Anti- gonish at Esquimalt, will be en- gaged in the training of cadets -- University Naval Training Division personnel, Cadets from Canadian Services Colleges, and those study- | ing at universities under various Navy-sponsored schemes -- and also will provide sea experience Royal Canadian Navy (Reserve) for | Decoration Head DR. In addition, the aircraft carrier Magnificent, at Halifax, and de- stroyers on both coasts, will be brought into the Reserve training picture from time to time through- out the summer as their operational commitments permit. Industrial expansion is the essence of local and national prosperity because it is an investment in jobs and in continuing business stability.
