Taylor, 56, who has been Lamb- ton's Crown Attorney on a part- time basis for 13 years, announced Wednesday he had tendered his resignation - to Attorney-General Porter, effective April 1. He sald he sent in the resignation some time ago, and had received an ac- knowledgement but no acceptance. PLANE CRASH Saskatoon, March 30--(CP) -- A light plane crashed Wednesday in hilly country south of here, killing a young woman passenger and injur- ing the pilot. The plane, owned by the Saskatoon Flying Club, was piloted by Par Fletcher, Regina golf professional. The passenger was Jacqueline Phillips, a student nurse at Saskatoon Hospital. Pereman's School was the scene of another social event Tuesday evening with nine tables of cards. The 'honors went to Mrs. Gordon Scott and Mr, W. Hanna. A feature of particular interest was the pres- entation of a wedding gift to Miss Edna Samells, teacher, a bride-to- be of Easter week. The section is fortunate in that their teacher will continue her duties here. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm McGregor attended the funeral of his cousin, CJBC-Sports EASY TO ROLL DELIGHTFUL TO SMOKE the late Rev. James A. Miller, B.A, of Toronto, at Greenbank on Tues- day. The late Rev. J. A. Miller and his brother, the late Rev. J. George Miller, were very active in work of the Sons of Temperance and were highly esteemed by members of Durham District as they were rep- resentatives of Grand Division to the annual district divisions from time to time, when the Sons of Temperance did good work. They leave many friends in this connec- tion. Dr. Little preached at the service at Kimbourne United Church, Toronto, and Rev. Paul Glichrist, of Toronto, preached the sermon at Greenbank with the local pastor, Rev. Harold Tippen, taking part in the service, The Rev. Mr, Miller was much beloved by a host of friends for his kindly in- terest. His memory of faces and events was remarkably good, often recalling names and incidents of many years past. A large attendance at Greenbank showed respect ana esteem of his home community. We extend sympathy to his wife and daughters and one sister (Ethel), Mrs. John Bagshaw. Word has just been received of the death of Miss Sarah Farrell, formerly a highly esteemed resident of Kedron, late of Toronto. There was an attendance of about 30 ~t Y.P.U. Sunday evening at Columbus, Mrs. W. A. Werry presented an interesting topic on "All Races of One Blood." On Sun- day evening, April 2, meeting will be at Kedron. Mrs. Stanley Ogle, and Joan, spent a delightful week-end, guests of Miss Peggy Brown, Toronto. Mrs, Grant Ormiston is con- valescing at the home of her uncle, Mr. Chas Love and Mrs. Love, after her sojourn in Oshawa hospital. Mrs. Havelock Annis is progress- ing favorably at time of writing. Kedron W.A. West Group, with a few guests, met at Mr. R. J. Luke's for a pot luck supper Saturday evening. The supper could not have been better balanced had it been planned, with turnip pie and fresh maple syrup with fresh biscuits be- ing highlights. Proceeds were gen- erous toward the group's finances. Kedron W.A. will meet April 5 at 2 pm. at the manse, Columbus, roads and weather permitting, Mrs. Harold Bennett will be guest speak- er. Subject, "Rome," as she found fit. Property stolen in the United States in 1048 was valued at $22,- COMMENTATOR FINED Toronto, March 30--(CP) --Kate Aitken, writer and radio commen- tator, Wednesday was fined $25 and costs or 10 days for not filing a 1948 income-tax return. Mrs. Ait- ken, visiting in Rome, entered a plea of guilty through her lawyer, J. F. Perrett. The offence, he said, was that Mrs. Aitken neglected to submit a completed tax form. Most of her tax had been deducted at the source. REMAINS "DRY" Bath, March 30--(CP) -- "Dry" for many years, this village 15 miles east of Kingston Wednesday retain- ed that status in a local option vote. The vote on a beverage room (beer) licence showed 116 in favor and 94 against. On the question of a dining room licence, providing for liquor and beer with meals, the vote was 115 in favor and 97 against.
