B. OKE Correspondent Ebenezer, Feb. 3.--The No. 4 Farm Forum held its meeting on Monday evening at the home of Ross and Mrs. Pearce with an at- tendance of 24. The topic was "Milk and Milk Products." The problems of the milk producer are (1) getting up in the morning; (2) surplus milk; (3) too short notice given when quota is to be cut; (4) low price for milk over quota; (5) high price of feed. These problems are usually taken to the dairy and the local milk producers' associa- tion. The group's recommendations for improvement of conditions are (1) equipment in dairies to make use of surplus milk; (2) co-operative cheese factory to take care of sur- lus milk; (3) more advertising by e Milk Foundation--advertising larger sefvings of butter in hotels and restaurants; (5) order milk in place of other beverages. Refresh- ments were served and a social time enjoyed. A rising level of industrial activity, a rapid increase in commercial and domestic loads, and widespread extensions to rural service in Ontario have brought about a very large growth in the use of electrical energy. To meet this increased demand and to provide for future requirements, The Hydro- Electric Power Commission of Ontario has well under way a large scale expansion and development program. A total of 11 new power projects will add to Ontario's power supply more than 1,200,000 kilowatts (over 1,600,000 horsepower). Of this amount 162,500 kw (217,500 HP) is now being delivered to Hydro consumers from 4 completed projects. A further 460,000 kw (616,500 HP) will become available in 1950 and the balance in 1951 and 1952. 5 The Commission is also engaged in a frequency-conversion program in a section of the province, so that 60 cycles will be the standard frequency throughout Ontario. This huge two-fold program will enable the Commission to provide still better service to the industries, farms and homes of Ontario, contributing to a high standard of living and helping to maintain production at peak levels.
