Now that the tour has been postponed it is possiblp that the coins will be melted down. The Royal Numismatic Society of Hew Zealand, with the support of overseas numismatists, is appealing for the coins to be issued. The coins are of a general design with no spe- cific reference to the Royal visit ex- cept the date. Crown pieces are not in general circulation in New Zea- land, being issued only on special occasions.
