About 250 parents and friends of pupils at Dundas Street Public School were present at the Christ- mas concert, sponsored by the Home and School Association in the town hall last night, It was a wonderful success with treats, a visit from Sata, carols, songs .and plays put on by the pupils. The program started off with an opening chorus by grades 5, 6, 17, and 8, to be followed with another chorus by the juniors. Music was under the direction of the super- visor of music, Mrs, Vernon Rowe. There was folk dancing "by seve eral of the es. Two gradua ,of the school favored with solo numbers, Don-1 ald Wilson playing a piano. solo and Rhona Ross who gave a read- ing. A play, excerpts from Dickens "A Christmas - Carol" - were played by the following: Jimmy Jermyn as Tiny Tim; Ross Sawdon as Marley and John Grant as Scrooge were featured players. The concert was under the direction of 'Miss Flor- ence Heard. Another play, "The Truth Tell- ing Machine" was. presented . by grades 7 and 8. Visit of Santa Claus was the highlight of the evening for all the children and adults too. He dis- tributed candy and peanuts to .all. Other teachers assisting with: the program were Mrs. Stork, Miss Thompson and Miss Sedore. At the conclusion of the even- ing, Mrs. Roberti Butt thanked the teachers and children for the ex- cellent program. 3 One other important item of the program was the presentation of pins to the graduating class of the past term by Miss Heard. "These children know how to play together, work together and think together--the first - steps in citizenship," Miss Heard said.
