Notable among these are HE-1 and H.E-2, both of which resulted in a 96 per cent control of poison ivy. IAE-3 also gave a good kill of weeds In flax when used at 1% to 3 ounces per acre, without stunting the flax. These herbicides are new estérs of 2,4-D. Another new weedkiller, 245-T, is 'a compound closely related to 24-D 'and developed for control of certain plant species, such as black- berry, resistant to 2,4-D. A growth substance type af herbi- cide--2 methyl 4 chlorophenoxya- cetic acld--is receiving some atten- tion because it seems less toxic to flax than 24-D. Sodium trichloracetate has been formulated for control of grasses.
