RANDALL Correspondent Whitevale, Oct. 27 -- With the tables prettily decorated and laden with delicious assortment of good eats, the annual congregational banquet of the United Church was held, marking the 73rd year. Fol- lowing the supper a very fine pro- gram was presented. Mrs. A. Troyer and daughter, Mrs. Walter Anthony gave two vocal duets. The mixed quartette from the Young People Society gave two numbers. Edwin Brice sang two vocal solos. Mrs. Chapman from Pickering, a gifted elocutionist, de- lighted all with readings. Rev. Atkinson from Uxbridge as guest speaker told of his recent trip to Vancouver, intersperce with witty remarks. Personals Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hilts visited Dr. King and daughter Aletia on Sunday and report a splendid time at Uxbridge. Mr. and Mrs. R. Melrose visiled Mrs. M. M. Griffin on Sunday. P.C. Norman Randall of Toronto spent Sunday with his parents. Several of the Whitevale folks attended the reopening of the Cherrywood Church after extensive decorations. Members of the Woman's Asso- ciation attended an evening session of the Stouffville W.A. Mrs, Barrett and two young daughters left England on Wed- nesday at 10 a.m., arrived at Wal- ton airport on Thursday, 12.30 and were with friends at Whitevale by 3.30. Mr. Barrett came over a few weeks ago and is employed in To- | ronto. Mrs. George Anthony has re-| turned from a pleasant visit with her daughter Violet, Mrs. Davies and family of Kinsale. Riddell had charge of the church service and chose for his text St. John, chapter 16, verses 6-10, which was part of Jesus' last words with his disciples before his crucifixion. The W.MS. will hold its annual Thank-offering meeting in the basement of the church on Tues- day, Nov. 2 at 2.30 pm. with Rev. Mulholland, of Cannington, as guest speaker. The Ladies' Guild held their monthly meeting in the basement of the church on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 8 pm, with the president, Mrs. G. Fisher occupying the chair. Mrs. Wc Routley read the Secrip- ture lesson and Mrs. R. Richardson led in prayer. It was decided to hold a crokin- ole party on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 8.30 p.m. An invitation is extend- ed to everyone to attend. Lunch | will be served.
