Boxer at Sea, March 16 (AP)--The United States launched successfully both under their own power and by catapult. But despite the 4,600-pound thrust developed by the FJ-1's straight ram duct engine, it was apparent the slow acceleration of the jou-propelled plane would tr launchings under its own pow- er as routine procedure. And un- der combat conditions it would not be feasible to keep the entire flight deck clear to launch only one plane at a time.
