McLaughlir 2 Two Oshawa Scout Troops went many miles north of Oshawa for their summer Troop camp. One camped near Haliburton, the other at Crow lake north of Pe- terborough. Twenty-five Scout Patrol Leaders in camp were trained in lead- ership, and advanced Scouting practices. One ac- tivity was the completion of a bridge over Oshawa creek. Mr. R. S. McLaugh- lin was invested as Noble Chief of Camp Samac, during the big District Jamboree. This took place at the Ceremony of Grati- tude, when Scouting said 'Thank You' to Mr. Mec- Laughlin for his wonderful gift of Camp Samac. Lady Baden Powell, Chief Guide of the world, and wife of our beloved founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell of Gilwell, planted a maple tree in Camp Samac en- trance.
