Not on the night it was supposed to appear but on Wednesday night. This delay was due to a mechanical failure at the Times-Gazette. Boy do thing look homey now! Some of the cadets were down at the C.R.A. Last Sat. for the offi- cial opening and while they were there they fixed things up a bit. t he did a good job and it sure made an improvement. Model plane classes start this Thurs. night so any cadets that are interested in this hobby are asked to come down this Thurs. night. Some of the chaps have al- ready begun work in this line but there is still room for any who are interested. If you have any of your own models bring them down and work on them. If you haven't any come on down and you will be sup- plied with them. There is to bE a display of models for the next in- spection. cFRB| C/O Beal had some words of praise for the cadets on their drill L, | of last Thurs. night and on the way WGR WBEN CBJ CJBC CFR. ie CBL CKEY CEKEY CKDO WEBW CHUM WBEN WGR CHUM CFRB CHUM W | yourself may seem unim they conducted themselves on pa- rade last Tues. This was a credit to the new boys and also a credit to the older ones for setting an ex- ample for the newer boys to follow. The manner in which you conduct rtant t6 you but it is by this that other people judge you, and the cadet corps to which you belong. You are a credit to yourself and to Jou squadron when you behave as comes a good air cadet; but you are a discredit to both when you act in any other manner. We were sweeping last week and gathered a little dirt as W/O Gri- fith likes to call it and we thought maybe you would like to hear it; 80 here goes. F/S Ferris paid us a visit last week complete with uniform. We had begun to think that he had for- gotten that we existed. Perhaps we are too hard on the lad; maybe he works, and was merely enjoying a properly arranged for leave. Any- way he has returned; but for how long ? : : Our limping friend Cpl. Easson is just full of bright stunts these ays. Maybe he is trying to get d ¥ | the cast from his ankle put around his neck. After trying to use the Ercoupe for a snow plow last week this novel pilot checks out in the Aeronca and practices U turns when landing. It is a good thing for him that there are no traffic cops out there, l. Foreman finally got into the air. Yes sir, that boy is in the clouds now. Last week we were snooping around town when we came upon: "Ginger" high atop a ladder busily washing windows. He is a brave man too, for he didn't even have a parachute. Well here we are just as we said we would be even after last week's m. Last week the poetic spirit hit us so hard that we left out a few items that should have been included. The most important of these is to welcome some new members to: the 0.C.S. We have quite a few this week and here they. are: 151-818 Swister, Lyle; 151- 319 Wheeler, Donald; 151-320 Vickery, John; 151-821 Devlin, Jack; 151-322 Thorton, William; 151-328 Fulton, Alan, We also have a strength de- 'nuall d - LAFF-A-DAY crease this week in the person of 151-318 Kot, Frank, The nominal role of our squadron seems to be increasing. This is a good sign, and we are sure that all the new boys will not regret their choice of cadet corps. As most of you know O.C.S, is now compos- ed mostly of new boys. These are boys who have been in the squa- dron about 18 months or less. These are the boys who will take the place of the older boys as NCO's before very long. It is up to you boys to make your squadron something that you can be proud of. Remem- ber that you are always on parade as far as the public are concerned. This was never more true than it is now that we have our headquar- ters as the CRA. People are going in and out of this building conti- and /they notice how the ca- ve. Some of your stunts may seem like a great joke to you, but just stand back and watch the other fellow do the same thing and you will see that you are not only bringing discredit to your squadron but are also making a fool of yourself. Some of the fel- lows say, "What difference does it make ?" If you think that it does not make any difference what peo- ple think of your squadron then you have not the right spirit and should not be a member of the 0.C.S. in the first place. Cpl. Fish is doing a roaring bu- siness with the canteen lately, We saw him last week staggering un- der the weight of several boxes of chocolate bars, All that money must be a great temptation Don and you have been doing a lot of ilying these days. Don't get me wrong dear readers Don is as hon- est as the day is long and he really has been doing a fine job and de- serves a lot of credit. I imagine there are other things he could do with his time other than sell re- freshments to a lot of hungry ca- dets. You have the thanks of all the cadets. Don as well as the thanks of the local dentists for keeping the cadets in chocolate bars. Last Thurs. the cadets were again treated to a film on hobby night. This film did not take up the entire evening and the remain- der was spent in the construction of model aircraft. Eight new mo- dels were purchased last week and the cadets have been busy trying to make them to such a degree of perfection that>they might happen to win the prize to be given for the best model, Here is 'something to work for, so you model minded cadets had better get into the swing of things if you have any hopes of winnings The Junior group had their se- cond night of drill last week in the absence of the Navigation instrue- |' tor. We did not have a chance to drop in and see them but we did hear F/S French shouting out com- mands and later the voice of Sgt. Shortt could be heard. If the Juni- or boys were in the hands of these two NCO's you can be sure that they will soon be expert in the art of rifle drill. Cpl. Noakes, Cpl. Bishop, and F/8 French gave the piano a work out last week with a little tune they picked up in Borden last year. We would greatly appreciate someone who would make up some words to go with this tune. We might even print them in the paper if they were suitable. Let's see what you young composers can do. That is all for this week folks; see you next Tues. night. Did you feed your cat this morn- ing? That milk would be a three- day ration for a baby in Poland. These babies will be given the food they need for life through the Ca. nadian Appeal for Children, he took what Le waited from. A. Garner, director of extension, On- tarion Agriculture Department, told the Ontario Crop Improve- ment Association, opening a four. day session here, Monday. . Mr. Garner said growers should alm to have Ontario-grown pota- toes available for consumers every day of the year. He cited potato imports of 3,500 carlots in 1947 and 5,400 in 1946 as proof of the market still available for Ontario produc- ers. He said the public is "food-con- scious," and advised greater pub. licity regarding what a dollar will buy in potatoes as compared with other products.
