A showing of films by Mr. Rit- chie was held at the schoolhouse last week with an attendance of about 45. They were good and the film showing a possible result of the atom bomb in the event of another war, opened a discussion on whether we wanted a war and the best means to prevent such a dire happening. Many felt that it was not the question of poverty or wealth, of industrial or agricultural pursuits, or even of aggression, which produced the warlike atmos- phere, as it was the individual's actions in making this living toge- ther along the lines of the Sermon of the Mount, with its sensible ec- onomy. A report of our county council was made by one of its members who suggested that the system of electing a warden was outdated. If a secret ballot was aimed at as an improvement then our electors would be kept in the dark as to the actions of their representatives even more than they are, Our par- liaments know how our members vote and so should we know exactly how our men vote. more pu- blicity- we get as to the actions of .our legislators even in committees, and hedging of issues in many cases. the better government we would have.
