Kinsale MRS. A. HOOKER Correspondent Kinsale, Dec. 31.--The annual Christmas concert was held at the school recently, and was voted one of the best concerts ever given. All the pupils took their parts exceed- ingly well even the wee tots. Rev. A. C. Luffman acted as chairman, and Mrs. Spratt of Whitby, in the absence of our music teacher; Miss J. Spratt, had charge of the musical numbers, The opening chorus by the schol was "Christmas Cavalcade"; then came recitations by Carol Lee, Don- na Johnson and Allan Hadwin; play, by the junior grades was &n- joyed by everyone, and recitations given by Andrew Stewart and Gary Applegath, * The audience, led by the chairman, sang several Christ- mas carols. Ted Curl gave a mono- logue, "Writing To Santa," which drew much laughter. A rose drill, by Velva Johnson, Marie O'Brien, Ruby Spencer; Bar- bara Johnson, Margaret Burton, Betty Spencer, Joyce Cammach and Doreen Burton, was very pretty and well done. A play, "Hank Says It," was given by the senior grades, and recitations by Bert Spencer and Joyce Cammack. A doll's drill, by six senior boys all dressed in ladies' costumes, which certainly gave them that 'new look," brought much merriment. Gene Lynde gave a recitation and the program ended with a tableau, during which Marie O'Brien read the story of the birth of Christ, and Ted Curl sang as a solo, "O Holy Night." The entire school sang "Silent Nigit." Santa Claus then appeared and distributed the gifts from the Christmas tree and candy bags to all the children. Our teacher, Miss Glenys Stephens, her helpers, Mrs. E. Coates and Mrs. C. Curl, and our music teacher, are to be congratu- lated on such a fine entertainment. Mr, Gordon Stell of Peterboro, spent the Christmas holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Stell. Christmas Day guests at the home of Alvin an s. Hooker included, Mr, and Mrs. John Rinn Miss Lois Rinn of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs, George Tait, Mrs. P. Hooker, Ross, Bonnie and Rosemond of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Reesor of Oshawa, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Har- bron were Saturday callers at the home of Mr, and Mrs. H. Parkin. Sorry to report Mrs. R. Kellow of Osh- awa, were holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Bunker. Mr. and Mrs. C. Ledgett and Miss Roxena Ledgett spent Christmas Ajax Midgets Beat Whithy H. M. PIPER Correspondent Ajax, Dec. 30.--In the hockey game last Friday evening the Ajax midgets - won their grame from Whitby with a score of 6-2. The Ajax juveniles lost their game to Whitby with a score of 5-1. Gordon Deeth for the midgets was the star of the game. Bill Johnston scored the only goal of the evening for the juveniles. On Monday night the Ajax Orioles played against Brougham losing the game, the score was 5-1. Dave Kemp as goal tender was outstand- ing. Gordon Hood, assisted by Bruce Morrison scored the only goal. Playing a good game were Gordon Hood, Bruce Morrison and Ross Bryant. The Ajax team had a poor start, picking up during the game, but were unable to defeat star goalie E. W. McEwen of the Brougham team. The next game for the Orioles and midgets will be on Friday evening, January 2. Mr. and Mrs. Raymer of Mark- ham, spent Christmas with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Brennan, Mary Street. Mr. and Mrs. W.
