PAGE TWELVE THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1947 New Children's Wear Store Opens In Oshawa Tomorrow Oshawa's newest and most completely stocked children's store opens tomorrow at 421% Simcoe Street- North. This new store will no doubt prove a boon to the Oshawa Mother, who, for many years now, has worried over the purchasing of her children's wardrobes. Mr. M. Sarett, the pro- prietor of Kiddy City, stated to The Times-Gazette that it had been his ambition for a long time to open a children's store here in Oshawa, but due to the war and other short- ages, the idea had to be post- poned until such time as ma- terials and goods became more plentiful. Kiddy City is more than just a name... it is truly a kiddies' store in everything it stocks. Upon entering, one is struck by the L decorative walls which are papered in bunny rabbit style and resemble somewhat a kiddy's bedroom. The whole store is streamlined inside with the most modern fix- tures and shoppers are able to inspect the racks of kid- dies' clothing with ease. Ac- cording to Mr. Sarett, it will be his aim to carry a complete line of sizes and quality goods at all times. The store is well lighted with the new daylight fluorescent lighting. There is no doubt that Kiddy City will prove to be one of Oshawa's most popu-' lar shopping centres for chil- dren's clothing and Mr. Sarett is to be commended upon his foresight and initiative in the birth of this new business in the city of Oshawa. Vast Customs Valen Mooted For Recovery Toronto-- (CP)~Creation of a bod within which the operations of the proposéd Marshall plan could be carded out in a spirit of internatimal co-operation is suggested bf G. V. Ferguson, edi. tor of Ths Montreal Star, in an article ip'the autumn edition of the Intsrnational Journal, pub- lished guarterl; by the Canadian Instity/e of International Affairs. Mp Ferguson's suggestion is m in an effort to avoid a sit. mn where the United States ht feel it was giving aid to untries which in turn would t - barriers against her, or j'Wherein the assisted countries 4 might feel in the position of char- 4 ity recipients, "Creation of some North Amer- ican or Inter-American Council might be envisaged," he writes. "Or better still, a North Atlan- f tle Council in which the efforts and resources of North America and Western Europe might be . pooled. It would be a council dominated by the United States, but that country would be on surer ground if it were prepared to admit to the council table, each with an effective voice, all the donors and beneficiaries of an enlarged Marshall plan, "It would be still more effec- tive if the participating nations were to create a gigantic customs union, inside whrcn capital could at least move freely and securely from place to place, and better still if taere could be a similar free movement of men and labor. "Such a council would not oc- cupy itself solely with the restora- tion and mainterance of the eco- nomic life of its members. It would include measures of politi- cal stability and security as well. It would be a re-created and ex- panded SHAEF, but one this time dedicated not to the waging of war but to the maintenanee of freedom and peace. "It would be based on the exist- ence of .. common approach to a way of life which diffars marked- ly from that sought and practised by the Soviet Union. , . "If. the plan were divided, there would be a score of projects to each of which the economical- ly hard-hit nations could make important contributions." COMPRESSED AIR .Working people in the habit of using compressed air for "cool- ing" or for dusting clothing they | are wearing, are warned by the Department of National Health and Welfare that this is a dapger- ous practice. It has been k to cause loss of eyesight and hear- ing, "Death can occur if the air stream enters the body" warns the health department, 145 ALMA ST.
