Courses they sought are not available in Cana- da and they were told it would be impossible to find living accom- modation in the U.S. so they de- cided to build trailers in which to live and study. The three men, Ed Erhart, Vic Jaquet, and Ed. Poplel, will leave shortly with their families in a fleet of cars and home-built trail- ers. ( On March 24 the men began building the trailers in a rented garage. By mid-August they ex- pect to be heading for Fort Col- lins, Colo., where they will take a trades and industrial arts course at the Agricultural; and Mechan- fcal Arts College, | The trailers are % feet long, eight feet high and are built of ce- dar plywood covered with alumi- num alloy. They contain a living room, closets, chesterfield, bed, folding table, ice box, sink and stove--even built-in cribs for the children. They figure the trailers are worth about $2,500 apiece at current prices. It cost them $900 per trailer for materials, The men have been granted leave of absence for one year, but will have it extended until they complete their course. They will draw allowances under veterans' rehabiliation and expect to make ends meet because they 'will have no rent to pay.
