We know that nobody will pay any attention to table thumping, finger pointing rabble rousing on the radio. We know also that The Church in the Wildwood program every morning at 9.00 o'clock is one of our most popular programs. It's an inspiring program because the entire message is carried in the thrilling baritone voice of John Seagle and the Church in the Wildwood Choir. You'd be amazed at the letters we receive from Oshawa, Toronto, Weston, Lindsay, Cobourg, Veterborough about this program. This is our idea of an inspirational program and our listeners think so too This is THE OSHAWA BROADCASTING COMPANY DIAL 1240, CKDO 8:15--Morning Devotions 8:25--Aflrlane Trio 330Rovins Reporter 8:30--New: WK 8: 30--8tep. Now the Cabinet, not the services, has the final decision, but néws- papers still are not satisfield that quick action has been guaranteed. There have been renewed sugges- tions that: 1. Training be concenerated in such places as the north of Scot- land instead of the more populous sections of southern England and Wales; 2. Arrangements be made with the Dominions, particularly Cana- da and Australia, for training of British mechanized forces in their open spaces. 3. A Royal Commission be formed to go into the whole problem of military training and widespread requisitioning of land, The War Office still retains 1,- 500,000 of the 11,000,000 acres it held during the peak war period, It is understood to be asking the per- manent use of at least 500,000 ac- res to train the peacetime army -- about double the pre-war area, The Air Minstry held 391,000 ac- res at the end of 1944 and only about 20,000 acres has been requis- itioned so far, Before the war it had 85,000 acres. Admiralty land holdings have not been disclosed, Speaking for the government, Lord Pakenham, undersecretary for War, told the House of Lords no final decisions had been reached on training abroad but it would be mis- leading to hold out hope of any "SLIM? and his HAPPY VALLEY TROUBADORS Offer Old Tyme and Modern Dances EVERY SATURDAY UKRAINIAN HALL large reduction of training areas as | the result of sending troops over- | FHIATKES TCORY Marks -- "Spook Busters"--1.00 = 3.25 - §:50 - 8.15 - 10.40, "Colo rado Serenade" -- 2.15 - 4.40 ~ 7.05 - 9.35. EAST 'Rank Not Lost In UK Legion Leeds Eng., Dec. 6, --(CP) -- A move to curtail use of military ranks within the British Legion was de- feated after a heated debate at the annual conference of Yorkshire's west riding branches. "It is. time we got away from this officer class," said T. A. Stead of Doncaster, debating a resolution, "that the ranks of persons nominat- ed for office should not appear on the conference agenda." "It is, to my mind, a kind of snob- bery." The resolution was voted down af- ter Lt.-Col R) Grimshaw of Raw- don, the chairman, reminded the meeting: "All these ranks have been conferred for some purpose and indfviduals are entitled to use them.'
