'The duties of Chief Engineer will be handled by George Blanchett, formerly with CKOC, Hamilton, His assistant will be Syd Townsend, son of Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Townsend, of 120 Maitland Street, Whitby. Syd is also a graduate of the Re-estab- lishment Institute and specialized in electronics and broadcast theory. COMPLETE MUSICAL LIBRARY As for what listeners can expect, Mr, Elliott told The Times-Gazette he had secured a complete up-to- date musical library from the Na- tional Broadcasting Company's Ra- dio Recording Division. The lib. rary, which now consists of over 5,000 transcribed selections, will in- clude modern dance music as well as classical masterpieces, band and religious airs, The station will also present news throughout the day from the wires of The Canadian Press, the Associated Press and Reuters News Agency. It will stress national news and an arrangement has also been made to receive about 800 words from Detroit, fea- turing automotive news, This is a special arrangement, inasmuch as the service is not usually leased to cities this far east but will be of particular interest and value locally, Besides news and musie, Mr, El- lott intends to feature special events broadcasting, This wil § in- clude hockey games from Oshawa and other sport events, when pos- sible.
