ABA, playoffs, will be played at Alexan Park tonight at 645 o'clock sharp, Blanked Until. 9th Playing a brillant brand of de- fensive softball behind DeMille's steady pitching, as he scattered only four hits for the first eight ine nings, Fittings kept Thistles off the score-sheet entirely, Twice, in the early stages, they pulled off double- plays to relieve tense situations, It wasn't until the Sth inning that Thistles broke the Joous- 655 and then they did it with a ven. geance, scoring nine runs in the one frame, their entire total for the game, Hayward started it off with a walk, Day flied out but Johns walked, then Gavis singled and 50 did McLaughlin, Baliwin popped out for the 2nd out but was safe on an error and the parade resumed, Thursby singled, O'Cone nor walked and Hayward walked for the second time in the inning, then Day and Johns singled, Ga- vis got his second hit of the inning but was out to reach 2nd and that ended the rally. The superior pitching of the Bow- manville hurler told the tale along with the weaker efforts of the Osh- awa mound artist who gave up not only seven walks but also a homer in the first inning. This latter blunder might be exgused on the grounds that the Bowmanville hurl- er allowed two of them and one with one man on base, Bowmanville got two runs in the first and in the second frames, and then singletons in the third, fourth and sixth innings. Oshawa man- aged a reply in the fourth and sixth frames when they got three runs for a total of six. Oshawa made a spirited stand in the last of the seventh when they got one man as far as third and then he was thrown out on an ate tempted steal for the plate and that all important tying run, to end the inning and the game. Brown was the lusty bat swinger for the Oshawa Legion team with 'his homer that was good for two runs, while Dionne came a close second with his big round-trip blow. Little got the homer for the Bowmanville Legion and he was their best hitter, OSHAWA: McIntyre, ¢; Waddell, of; Lott, 2b; Brown, If; Jackson, 3b; Dionne, ss; Andrews, p; Kurelo, 1b; Barriage, rf; Maga, p; in 4th; Hobe, 1b in 4th; and Murphy, rf BOWMANYVILLE: Little, cf; Rich ards, ss; Jackson, 2b; Colmer, p; McKnight, 3b; Hooper, ¢; Welsh, rf; Knight, If; and Harrison, 1b, Harmony Wins (Continued from Page 11) Tutak was of course the best man for the Pete's Place team with his big four-run homer in the last of the fourth, Loreno and Scott were the willow swingers "par exe cellence" for the Harmony team, PETE'S PLACE: Olaus, cf; Stark, 2h; Blenkowski, 1b; Taillon, ss; H 8, If; Taylor, rf; Loople, ¢; Edmonds, Kovacks, 3b; Baxter, p; and Tutak, y Pp. in 2nd HARMONY MILLIONAIRES: |" Scott, 2b; W.
